are you folks ready to see something i'm still pretty bad at lol. i've done ceramics and clay sculpture on and off for over 15 years, my first time on the wheel was in 2008! i really like it, pottery makes me feel so connected to humanity and history, but i haven't applied much real time to it, my stuff is still fairly rudimentary. my last serious effort was in 2023, i took two months of lessons at a local studio. i enjoyed making my ugly little things but i felt rushed and socially uncomfortable at the studio, plus monthly fees are too expensive for me, so i quit after those two months. since then, the only things i've made are low-fire handbuilt stuff at the clay date events hosted at junior high in glendale. those are fun and cheap but i'm itching for the wheel. i've enrolled in a full semester of ceramics I for fall 2026 and i'm really excited to put more effort into it!

Star... Vase?

this clay date project taught me that i need to have a plan for giant unwieldy shit i make lmfao. i think of this as my rainbow road jar. vase. bowl. thing. its not really the right shape to hold much at all. idk its holding some random every day tools rn

Hollow Tiger

the first thing i did at clay date! i kinda meant for her to be a pipe but i forgot i dont know how to make a pipe like that lmfao now shes just hollow. guilty of finding little x buttholes on cartoon cats very funny

Various Ugly Trinket Bowls

none of these are fabulous but they're all large enough to hold things. one is my jewelry bowl, one is coins and junk like the gingerbread bottle opener and key cards i don't use anymore and safety pins, one has button extenders bc i need them for my old high-waisted jeans i bought before T, one is full of random polished rocks lol

Matching Bowl and Plate Attempt

another flop! not very well constructed dishes and then i put too much glaze on and the instructor got mad at me for ruining a kiln puck. F

Broken Mess

this was just a diaster of a project lol it was gonna be a mug. i cut too much off the top to be mug shaped so maybe a soup bowl. i trimmed through the bottom so i pivoted to it being a planter or something with this leaf to cover the hole. people kept saying they'd never seen anyone do that before and i still don't know whether they meant that in a good or bad way. then when i went to pick it up someone had broken a leaf off :( they left a note but still sad. and then i broke another while taking these pictures lmfao i should glue it back up someday. it holds some shells and a dove feather

First Mugs

mug making was heavily emphasized in the class i did. i didn't really want to make mugs but i didn't know how to ask to do something else so i made mugs. they are not great mugs lol too heavy too small

Ugly Lil Guys

i struggled really badly starting the wheel for those old classes. i spent the first couple weeks firing terrible little shitty cup-pot-dish things with little to no refinement just to have something coming out of the kiln! the first blue one all untrimmed especially, i was so frustrated that week, it was the only thing intact.
