the risograph is a digital duplicator released in 1980 in japan! it uses technology similar to silkscreening or a mimeograph, pushing soy-based ink through a master stencil to quickly make multiple copies at a time. it has caught on for art purposes to make prints, zines, and more in a fun and unique way! i have been taking occasional workshops to experiment with this cool little machine for a while now, and i took a full class and got certified at a local studio in september 2025. riso has really reinvigorated my interest in digital art and collage, i've been having so much fun!
interested in a copy of a print? email me at cowgrls@pm.me! prints are priced by size in USD, 8.5"x11"s are $10+shipping, 11"x17"s are $20+shipping. happy to ship international!

i designed this for class and i did not print it well during and it pissed me off so bad lmfao i redeemed it with one perfect pull when i went to open studio time. yay

wanted to design something more forgiving of the riso's faults, this was what i came up with and i think it turned out great!

made this for the yearly student show at the place i print at! meant to be themed on what you learned, and i learned to make things i like again lol

this was a workshop on using metallic paper in the machine. so fun if finicky hehe. i have copies of this on a few different shades of gold and all of them photograph/scan terribly
this image is composited from vintage film my grandpa took and we inherited when we cleaned out their house. ive had fun playing with it since, i think i'm going to make riso postcards out of a bunch like this

i think my 2nd or 3rd try at this? a valentines themed workshop. when i started the full class to get certified, a copy of this was on the table as an example for the first week hehe <:) i felt special. i should reprint this with the digital file so its a little cleaner

my final piece for the class! i wanted to try and see what range of colors i could get out of it, so i arranged a bunch of vintage sticker pngs in a rainbow. i like it a lot! i might redraw it someday so its my own art and make an iSpy of sorts
